Sorry, i know its not an advice forum for hardware but...

Long gone are the days that i know anything about new / current hardware.

Does anyone know if this card is OK? I checked the specs so it will work with my motherboard etc.

http://www.newegg.com.cn/Product/A19-050-2CD.htm

i want to replace my 7900GT, is this card much of an upgrade?

Also like the look of :)http://www.newegg.com.cn/Product/14-c11-189.htm but it says PCIe X16 2.1.. not sure if this will work with 2.0.. oh and it quite abit more expensive so i guess its better

any help appreciated Very Happy

i advise you to buy new one... your hardware is too old..
even if you do not buy, your main board and CPU can not load up your new card.

Enea, what allen just said. Your cpu/ram will bottleneck your new graphic card. Also I believe a new generation of cpu/gpu will be released next year. Maybe not a bad idea to wait a bit more.

There will always be something new coming up "next year". My suggestion is if u are sure there is something new coming up next "month" then may be u can wait, otherwise just go get it.

I agree with the bottlenet issue. I am in the exact situation 6 months ago and i upgraded my graphics card. The result - my cpu is choking the system up and my supposingly "new" graphics card cannot handle game at the low end of the spectrum. I have to upgrade the whole system at the end.

Building a new box is not that expensive if u did ur research ... (well unless u want a top of the range setup)

Some years ago you could upgrade only one component nowadays you be better of upgrading all at the same time. You can build a proper gaming rig which runs BF3, COD3 and all latest game s in mods class range for below 5000 rmb. If u go high end then consider 10000 rmb upwards!

haha thanks Guys Smile

Having kids has certainly made me fall WAY behind current tech Very Happy i thought my stuff was quite recent but thinking it's about 8ish years old...

So the card will not run much better than current you are saying? Looks like i will get a new PC soon then.. Xmas present to myself maybe.

Not sure i have the conviction these days to build my own.. anyone know any respectable PC vendors in Shanghai?

Yeah back then I bought a laptop and didn't knew newegg, poor me.

Enea any case don't go in Xujiahui in Shanghai, they have 2-3 buildings full of computer shops but this place will drive you crazy, particularly when you start bargaining.

If I were to build a comp or buy a comp I would just do it on newegg, since shops won't replace you the defect material anyway, you have to contact the manufacturer. Anything you will buy on newegg is cheaper than the shops, and they don't have a laowai margin.
