I still haven't decided. Just playing on my demo account on server 6 for now. I am leaning towards server 2 though, cuz I hate high ping. Having said that, what is the ping like on server 2 LePanda (or hiasl)?

Just a quick question guys:

How come everyone on this forum seems to be rolling Alliance characters? Is that just a huge coincidence? Am I really stupid and have not realised that this is an alliance guild forum?

Initially I just wanted help starting up in China, but someone tell me why is it that you are all Alliance?

Well, the thing is, we took alliance by default the 1st time. And if we want to play together we have to be on the same side, otherwise, we can't even talk to each others. But doesn't mean we're not gonna take hord character for reroll, on the contrary!!!

So it's not a coincidence, it's just that we don't have the choice. It is NOT necesserally an alliance guild, it is just a foreign guild. I' m sure some of us have a hord reroll by the way.
Does this repulse you that much to play alliance side?

My wife and I are moving to China next week, about 600 km south of Shanghai. We both play WoW in Europe, but due to the time diffrence we want to set up Chinese accounts and then find some english speaking people to raid with.

So .. what's the status with the "Foreign community at Chinese World of Warcraft"? Where should we roll a char, what side should we play, do you play PvP/PvE, what instances have you completed and how many people are you?

this is who we are in game. I try to keep this updated quite regularly.

We're on the alliance side, but rolling hord someday could be interesting, on Shanghai 1 马多兰maduolan.
It's a PVE server so that everybody can choose what they want to do.

For the HL instances, you'll have to ask our highest levels here : romainh, pouetpou, cya, kazuki and troutman. I think they've been pretty far. Not until naxxramax though...

Then, we don't force you to choose a character because we lack of... It's a game before everything and we want to have fun! Of course, if you prefer playing a character according to us, please, go ahead

PS: do both of you speak Chinese? Are you going to try the Chinese version or the English one?

Will check there. Currently we will still need to move and get the appartment ready. This will include setting up some sorta of internet connection.

None of us -speak- Chinese, though we have had some 80 hours of training. We are at a "Wo shi waigoren" level, so I guess we will stick with the english client.

As mentioned we have played all sorts of chars, so I guess we might as well chose something that the guild can use. No point in rolling yet another XXXX if you already have 5 of them and need YYYY.

i can only speak for myself now, but it's gonna be hard to give up naklin "just like that".
i would definitively want to know more about that guild of yours, how many people, what you are raiding, and so on. i dont get the kicks off battlegrounds, arena might interest me, but i am a raid wh0r3,... so basically i would need to be with a bunch of people who can spare the few hours after work to raid something and be efficient. and it would not be fun to roll on your server if i would be in another guild. the point is in playing together... hehehe

Hi, I'm David, moved to China to work as an english teacher in October, I used to play wow hardcore pretty much, played it since beta in europe so over 2 years now, I know the game inside out. Seems I'm the same as what I've briefly read from this site, I tried to play wow on europe realms when I got here, at best a ping of 700 for a few minutes, at worst a constant 5000 most of the time, which makes it unplayable for me to raid naxx on my mage with my guild or pvp on my warrior on a different server.

I'm 21, living in Shandong province atm, only have to teach for 3 days a week, so I have plenty of time on my hands even when not still travelling about.

Got the chinese wow installed and an account set up by a friend, yesterday infact. Hope I can make friends with you guys, and help each other out. No idea how to get to your server, or what server I made a character on(I just clicked on the fastest server and then the pvp realm with the lowest queue. Playing the chinese version but doesn't bother me much since I know all the quests(or use thottbot) and can just grind my character. I don't speak much chinese and whilst I can write it ok, I can't understand reading it that well.

Thx for the invitation. But i play in my server since around a year now and i spent a lot of time and effort to get into one of the best raid I'm pretty good DPS raiding rogue and it would be too sad for me to give it up before down every boss around

But, i would be happy to join if you are planning to build a raid guild, because i'm a little bit like naklin, i love raiding and i'm not really fan of the game content before lvl60.

Naklin and Deadanus I understand you concern about doing raids and play with many people but it's small brooks which make the large rivers ...in other words the guild fills itself gradually ^^ !

I guess I am just a wannabe because I am not from france nor live in China. I live in the US and graduated in Chinese and East Asian Studies. I played WoW on the Beta here in the US but could never bring myself to pay $15/month to play a couple hours a week. I found out the Chinese WoW was by the minute and hopped on pretty quick. My ping times are about 400-500 and I play Horde on some server in the 3/7 servers. I don't log too many hours, one card lasts me 3-6 months, but I get on for a little bit each week to catch up on my rest xp. I don't get on too much because I work full time and I'm married with one little one and one on the way. I am mainly interested in being able to type in Chinese, i have the Microsoft IME but as of yet I only get "?" for whatever I type. I am going to check out the clearfont option to see if that will fix it. I've met some pretty cool Chinese people who speak English, but until I can type in Chinese I feel so isolated. Later

We made it to Taizhou (Zaijian province). Got the internet up and running and are finally settling in. We will stay in China over christmas and plan to get WoW up and running.

We patched the EU client last night, but it seems they screen the IP's, at least we get disconected at the char-screen. Guess that will speed up our transistion to the Chinese WoW. comabined we had about 300 days on out two WoW acounts so the addiction wil like drive us.

Though .. we will likely both miss the chars we had in Europe and the raids, I think this will be pretty cool. A good reason to blast a few levels again. And who knows, perhaps even get a free rank 11 mount? Oh wait, they changed BG rewards in this patch I think.

I got the EU client (English) but when I run it I connect to Europe, is there a way I can change that so I connect to China WoW or do I have down download the Chinses version and install that one .. and if I do will I jave to learn chinese? When I search I keep getting spammed with chinese signs (Wo bu kan Chongwen). Continued at the FAQ forum.

for connecting chinese servers with foreign clients, im unfortunately no help, windows and wow client are chinese here. But I can tell you using chinese one is no problem for playing, except for the damn quests, well if you do so, I suggest you use a soft like jinshan which translate on pointing (very convenient )

By the way, I admit at first glance I felt a little bit bewildered about your location (the GoodBye province) well this is not far from Shanghai, you should have good ping

I play WoW 2.5 Years in China on a Shanghai PVE Server. The Realm is 伊瑟拉 with 2 characters. One Rogue 'Juliask'LvL ~17 and one Mage 'Katshy' LvL 16. My Level 60 Mage was unfortunatly lost when the 1.10 patch came out. I am happy to finally found a page with had the same intention like me. I had to play a lomg time around until i found a solution to play with my English WoW on a Shanghai Server(my method is diffrent in the way that i only copied the "Launcher.exe" and "realmlist.wtf" (on some patches I also needed to copy "config.cfg" and "launcher.cfg") from the Chinese Client into the English. The diffrence is that i could easy choose between Shanghai and beijing or Taiwan Servers without modifiyng the realmlist.wtf file after starting the Launcher.exe!!! For sure i keept a backup to be able of patching both clients!! ***This work in both directions ENG WoW>Chinese Server and CHN WoW> European Server--tested with patch1.10 and 1.12 succsesfull)

I am just starting a Priest 'stItCh' LvL1 on MaDuoLan 玛多兰 and hope to see some of you there to help me lvl up my Character.

Hello everyone!

I just came across this page today, so I registered, because I was hoping to find something like this Recently I played through WCIII ROC and TFT again and it made me want to try WoW... again. Well, I only played it for a week or so, back in Czech Republic, during my last days there in the summer, just before leaving for China. It was only for a short time, only the trial version but I enjoyed it, it was a pleasant change as I was already bored with other MMORPGS which all seem to follow the same pattern (I played Ragnarok Online for some 3 years on a free Czech server). So now I decided to try Chinese WoW and might as well join you in a few days... well, I am not sure if it is the best idea to start now, and become addicted just before the exams and all So maybe I will consider putting it off for the winter vacation... but I know myself, I know that most probably I won't be able to resist now xD So you can count me in!

I hope I will overcome my laziness and play the Chinese version (setting up the English one properly seems to be a lot of trouble anyway). I hope it could somehow help me with my Chinese that way and therefore won't be a complete waste of time The glossary here can make it somewhat easier...
