| | | Mon 17 Dec 2007 - 13:20 # | I have been unable to login into the WoW Europe server, and cannot get access to the WoW official website to see if there is a problem with WoW updates. This has been going on since Wednesday night last week, but a friend said he was able to login on Saturday so that suggests a possible problem with WoW Europe and recent updates? Does anyone have access to the game at the present time? Is there any suggestion as to how we are able to contact Blizzard and point out this problem to them? I hope it is a minor issue that will be resoved quickly, otherwise.............
Kilrogg server. Europe.
I send this message out to all in the hope that I will be told that this is a minor issue that will be sorted soon!!!!!!

Since then I have been unable to log in to my European server (Alonsus) but I could get onto the European website to check the servers on Sunday morning. They were all OK. Since then I have been unable to log onto the WOW-Europe website. Colleagues in the UK tell me that they are having no problems at all so it is not a problem with the servers.
Not so much of a problem for me as I am leaving for a Christmas holiday on Wednesday night but I hope it's fixed before I get back.

I play on North American servers. I checked to see if the US www.worldofwarcraft.com website worked and it didn't. I logged into a proxy server... AND IT DID WORK.
Friends, i fear this is an issue with the chinese government. China is blocking WoW... but perhaps this will be resolved? (though i doubt it... eeeek!)
| | | Mon 17 Dec 2007 - 17:18 # | Does anyone know why the Chinese would want to block WoW US and Europe? Is there really any possibility that this will be resolved anytime soon? Is it a case of having more recent Chinese updates or is it more sinister? I hope not! | | |

| | | Tue 18 Dec 2007 - 10:57 # | Does anyone have contact details for Blizzard Europe to ask for their assistance to rectify (if possible) this problem?
Does anyone know if this has happened before?

Open your WOW folder and find the file realmlist.wtf.
Open the file using Notepad or Wordpad. If you're on a European server the file should look like this;
set realmlist eu.logon.worldofwarcraft.com set patchlist eu.version.worldofwarcraft.com
Make a back up of the existing file. I simply saved a version as realmlist.wtf.old.
Edit the text to read;
set realmlist 80.239.178.111 set patchlist 80.239.148.128
Save the edited file as reamlist.wtf. Do NOT overwrite your backup file.
Close notepad and you should now be able to access WOW on the European servers. If and when normal service is restored you can simply re-instate the original realmlist.wtf.
Note the IP addresses in the modified Reamlist.wtf only work for European servers. For US servers I think you need;
set realmlist 12.129.232.112 set patchlist 66.45.252.236
but I have not been able to check this.

It was OK last night so I assume that either Blizzard have changed the IP addresses or PRC authorities are blocking access. Maybe someone with more time than me will be able to find a solution.
