Ok, again, for the sake of visibility I'm reposting a guide. All credits goes to AK-48 for providing us a working solution.

IF YOU DO NOT TRUST THE BINARIES,ANALYSE AND COMPILE THE SOURCE YOURSELF.

1. Install the foreign streaming client. Let it stream as usual.

As soon as the client reach the available status your can start fix it and play the game.

2. Rename your foreign client wow.exe into wow.exe.bak (.bak means backup), because you'may need to restore it back during the next client update

Grab the latest chinese client wow.exe http://www.gamefront.com/files/21081543/CNwow43exe.rar and extract it in your wow folder.

Rename your foreign client battle.net.dll into battle.net.dll.bak (.bak means backup), because you'may need to restore it back during the next client update

Grab the latest chinese client batttle.net.dll hhttp://www.gamefront.com/files/21274856/WowCN4.3.0.15050.Battle.net.rar and extract it in your wow folder.

3. into your wow/data/enUS make a copy of realmlist.wtf and rename the copy realmlist.wtf.bak. (.bak means backup)

Then open realmlist.wtf :

Change the first line into

Code:

set realmlist cn.logon.warcraftchina.com

and change the fourth line into

Code:

set portal cn

Don't touch the second and third lines.

4. get the latest enCNLaunch http://www.gamefront.com/files/21081319/enCN43.rar and extract it into your wow/ folder

If you aren't using the english US client open enCN.ini and change

Code:

data=enUS.dat
data_size=84

into

Code:

data=enUS_72.dat
data_size=72

5. download http://www.filefront.com/17325058/Fonts.rar and extract it in your wow folder. You should have wow\Fonts folder(you need to do this if you wanna read Chinese symbols in game.


6. Important note : you have to rename the file launcher.exe into launcher.exe.bak (found in the wow folder) or the launcher will start instead of the game. If you need to dl files from the launcher rename it back into launcher.exe

Start the game with enCNLaunch.exe and enjoy the game.

IMPORTANT (READ IT):

- the fix will only work for your first logging attempt. So if you type the wrong login you have to restart the game. If you ever see the message "bad version bla bla bla" just restart the game.

- When on the login screen make sure you wait a few seconds to let the fix load.

- The fix doesn't work if you have more than one local folder (enUS.deDE,ruRU,etc...) in your wow/data folder. So either delete other languages or move them to another place. You can create a folder named backup and move them in there.

Thanks for the guide, but can you make clear this point ?
The client foreigner must be patched initially in 4.2.2.14545 then the launcher from AK will let it be detected in 4.2.2.14769 (chinese) ?

Your client will always patch to the latest version available, there's no way to force it to not do so. The good thing is it doesn't matter because as soon as you copy the chinese wow.exe it will ignore all the files that have a higher build than the wow.exe

So even if your client patched to 4.3 it wouldn't matter. Simply let it stream and when it reach available status (play button is highlighted) you apply the fix and are good to go.

oh ok, I was fear about get 4.3 and cannot downgrade.. BTW I have already dowloaded all files separatly...

Patching to 4.3 isn't an issue as it is still in beta. I think if you undo the previous changes (restore your wow.exe and realmlist changes) and run the launcher it should patch to 4.2.2 and you can apply the new fix from there. I'm about 90% finished on the update so I'll know if it worked soon.

there is a folder called "src" in the enCNlaunch download; is the src folder required to be copied and pasted in the wow folder?

Also make sure you have the latest enCNlauncher version. The first one AK uploaded this morning didn't work.

Yeah Ive changed it to 72, doesnt work.

What Ive did is, Ive launched launcher.exe in my priveous wow folder with enlauncher(the one I used before), it has patched to 4.2.2smth, then I copied all the files needed, changed to 72, and still have a game version error.

Any ideas?

You sure you downloaded the enCNlauncher from this guides link? you have to replace the old one and all the files with the new ones.

I play with the German Version, I cannot log in as well.

I get the start screen to log in with my name and pw and after that it tells me, that the version is not valid.

I downloaded the new WOW Exe and the new launcher, but no chance.

Do you guys have any ideas?

Hi, A big thanks for AK-48 that 's so great we could fix this one that fast... A a big thanks to Bolo for the guide.

It works fine for me after stream my french client to max update then followed this guide.

Point it didn't work for the 1st time (but second) that I had to do that change in enCN.ini with the notepad and save :

data=enUS.dat
data_size=84

into

data=enUS_72.dat
data_size=72

2 problems I run into which I guess is propably the same problem for all others too!

1st you have to change the ini file to 72 exactly as described above !
2nd you have to make sure that in your realmlist line 3 and4 are from your original eu client ,if you have the china patchlist inside you get the version error !

my dede client works after doing this 2 steps

what is the EU patchlist entry for you? mine will not connect and i have had to change it to the US one to try that instead.

yesterday evening it worked, this morning it crashed.

It says:
critical error

Failed to open required archive Data/wow-update-13164.MPQ because patch data failed to download.

When I started the launcher yesterday morning, it downloaded the patch. Yesterday evening, after extracting new Wow.exe and launcher I was able to play.
This morning I get the crash.
I play the german client. Does anybody know what to do?

Check if the file is in your data folder! If not it you should try the launcher. To download it or might need repair to get it.

Hey this is the same problem that i was getting, one second it would work and download the updates the next it would not load and launcher would come up with message about unable to connect to patch server...

Myself, i have the EU version of the game and was using eu.patch.battle.net (or similar) patchlist. Last night i changed it to the US patch server and it seemed to work. Problem is that im not sure it this will cause problems with the German
client. It didnt seem to have any effect on my English (eu) client. Also, when you think it has finished, close launcher and open it again to see if it finds another patch or carries on downloading something. Again, i was having a problem where it said it was finished downloading the data but in fact had not!

Although you can play without fully downloading the game data, i would recommend letting it finish, that was causing some problems for me too, likely related to your above issue.

Shouldn't need to change the launcher at all, just leave it as the German one (you should be using encnlauncher.exe to start the game).

if, once your back to the german launcher, the launcher does not start you could try looking at the connection.log file (found in log folder) sometimes this can help tell what the problem is. As i said above mine would not start because it could not find the patch server, for whatever reasion (eu.patch.battle.net) so i ended up using us.patch.battle.net.

Sometimes after playing so much this is the better option ... start over.

If can't get past this new patch. If I delete everything and uninstall. They I re download the Chinese client just like I am starting playing. with it include the patch 4.2 and I do not need to do the new fix?

Also If I was to try to complete reinstall everything. Would I just DELETE all other WOW things? (I do not see an unistall button anywhere)

Also if I save the Fonts folder I have now could I use it with the new Client I may need to download? Or better to delete 100% and do it again.

Last question (sorry I am have 0 computer skills). For my winrar that loads most of the patch files and things. when the 40 day period runs out can you still use it? do people really buy the license? use a free license? pirate it? Really not sure how this will affect my situation.

Guys help. i bought and installed the cataclysm, created an account and all, and all with a lot of help from my Chinese friends. i tried your instructions but the link from the foreign client doesn't work. i am trying to level up but it's hard and not fun on quests. especially with Worgen. can you help me out? i am new and desperate.

Guys use the launcher.exe to update the client, it's a minor patch it won't require you to change the wow.exe. Then just make sure the realmlist.wtf is still like indicated on the guide. It should work then.

Edit : nvm doesn t work for me yet, still trying to dl the patch.

will wait for update, since i wouldnt know what to do if i fucked up... then Mal would kill me... and make me haunt my comp till i found an answer... haha i kid.

I've tried different things but honestly I'm clueless. This update has been released in both Chinese and US servers, I updated my US client but when I try to log it start to download the chinese patch and it ends up with an error, and I found no way to skip this. Maybe AK can do something with the enCNlauncher.

its an upgrade to the launcher, BackgroundDownloader and repair.exe...shouldnt affect the game..just the launcher =)

I tend to cry and go into the fetal position while rocking back and forth when I think I've broke my game. Ima gonna wait until I see "Yeah I did this (...) and I logged on no problem" before I press any "Ok"s. This will save the sliver of sanity I have left... oh wait... gone.

spooky sneakily tried to make me download the china patch (he didnt do it) in attempt to make me the guinea pig -_- RAWR but yeah...it really isnt just us. locals are having problems getting in too. but for those of you who DID download the thing, what does it say when you try to log in?
