Hi Wolfcry, have you changed your realmlist(WTF file) to the Chinese one?

yep. but prior to this, i accidentally was using the US realmlist and updated it to 4.3.4 before changing it back to the CN realmlist...

What worked for me was to change the realmlist according to the instructions at the beginning of the thread, then replace the files with those Bolo uploaded, connect and play. For now, I seem to have to connect using WOW.exe rather than the launcher. That seems a minor inconvenience to resolve my blunder.

I had a similar issue before Wolfcry, that's ok if you've updated it to 4.3.4 using your US realmlist. After that, all you need to do is change your realmlist to the chinese one, then download these and extract them to your WOW folder:

Use WOW.exe to play the game.

*Note: don't forget to back up your original launcher and wow.exe for future patches.

I download a completely new US client using the streaming downloader. Patch it to the latest which is 4.3.4

Then i change realmlist.wtf as instructed and copy the file bolo uploaded to the folder. Then i run wow.exe

And i get error "Cannot stream achieved data. Please check your network connection"

ANYONE CAN HELP!?!??!!?!?

Gavy I'm not sure but maybe if your client need to stream you should keep the realmlist.wtf pointing to the english patch servers. As long as you don't start the game with the launcher it won't do anything bad, and worst case copy again the 4.3.3 files.

keep the patchlist line as follow

set patchlist enUS.patch.battle.net:1119/patch

Renaming/deleting launcher.exe is the easiest way if wow.exe can't be run. (21/04)

Since you already have .bak one so don't worry.

I got it to work by using the Repair tool in the wow folders. I had to repair because my Launcher kept on giving errors and wouldn't start. After the repair, I opened Launcher.exe to patch it to 4.3.4 and changed the realmlist.wtf back to the CN one after completion of the patch. I can log in but all the servers are still down for me at 9:00 AM.

FYI, I use enUS client.

the newest Chinese launcher version is 4.2.1.2746

In Summary: update Client to 4.3.4 using us setting in wtf file->change the wtf setting back to cn->change the launcher to Chinese version(backup the original one, then run the Chinese version patch.exe,it will update launcher.exe automatically ).

Samish was able to log in yesterday, this morning cannot login, strange, tried to follow your instructions Van, still no joy.

Anybody got any other suggestions, Samish is getting shakes from no wow, haha ^^.

Just a reminder for those using repair...

It will set your desktop icon to point back to Launcher.exe which will not work once you have updated and run the patch tools update.

Just run wow.exe and it works fine.

I am elderly and easily confuzzuled. Perhaps we could separate the sticky into two parts:

1) The most recent "how to" instructions. Lock comments and leave it as it is, with a tag to show when it was last updated.

2) Patch day/connection issue discussion.

The current thread has grown to four pages and in my coffee deprived state, I'm finding it a bit difficult to make sure I'm following the most current set of directions.

Can anyone confirm -- are we in the process of updating to 4.3.4?
Are servers up from the usual maintenance or are we're having more China Telecom weirdness? [I'm told that the Friday outage among the Guangdong servers was a problem on Telecom's end.]

Bolo -- I too miss the comparative stability of year long patches and find the current, constant tweaking of tools to be irksome. Just visit Outland and cringe at the memories of days gone by, then everything seems better. Very Happy

Eternity.. you need to let it try to update. It will update a few files,then Launcher will complain about not being able to obtain patching info. At this point run wow.exe instead. Should be fine.

bounce to update your client you need to restore your backups. Realmlist.wtf and launcher.exe at least.

They are restored (as far as I know)

Realmlist says "set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist enUS.patch.battle.net
set realmlistbn ""
set portal us"

and the launcher.exe and wow.exe are the ones previously named .bak

I just tried to log in, and it asked for an update. I clicked the restart button just like I did for all recent launcher updates. but the update didn't start. Instead it gave me an error message(i think it was sth like 'can't obtain the launcher information). I client ran with no problem yesterday, and today it just can't update to 4.3.4... I tried everything I could(changing realmlist, etc...) but it was still the same...

Ok so for anyone who may have gotten confused or turned around at any point (like me Cool

) just follow these no matter what youve done and you should be ok. assuming you are playing english

1 Make sure your wtf is on enus then run repair.exe

2 download the old version launcher and exe here http://www.gamefront.com/files/21573605/Wow_Launcher_4_3_3_15354_rar and place it in your wow folder overwriting whatever is there.

3 Make sure you have your wtf file on the enus version and run launcher.exe to update .4.3.4

4 Make a backup of your Luancher.exe and wow.exe files.

5 Change your wtf back to the chinese wow version and run the new chinese patch. you can get it here http://client01.pdl.wow.battlenet.com.cn/wow-tools-retail/direct/wow-4.2.1.2746-zhCN-tools-patch.exe

6 keep track of where you kept your back ups and use Wow.exe to play.

hope this helps anyone as easily confused as me:)

Ok...From what i'm understanding from the first page and assuming I have just installed the foreign streaming client and it's updated itself to 4.3.4.15595:-
i can now make copy backups of my my launcher.exe, wow.exe and realmlist.wtf files...change the realmlist to Chinese servers (don't forget the fonts file) and open the game with wow.exe?
Or am i missing something that i can't find on page 1...?

Bolomos didn't make the point very clear in page 1 item 6- "Important Note"
Basically right now the client version is the same between enUS and zhCN, but not for the lanucher.exe.
So I think what you missed is to replace the lanucher.exe. you can find the download link in above posts. Update it manually is proven to be a better solution, at least for me(sometimes internet issue can cause a few MB automatic downloading last forever).
